Health Care & Support
This section does not try to be the final word on all resources available in the health and disability sector in New Zealand. Instead it concentrates on services and information outside of the mainstream in health and disability. It provides just some additional key things you might need to know, or different services you may need to access, because of the presence of a rare disorder in your family.
We have grouped them under these headings:
Specialist Health Services - publicly funded services you may be referred to.
Coping with Your Condition - the best sources of practical information we can find, with links to the key organisations.
Participating in Your Community - information on equipment, housing, transport, education and vocational assistance.
When Problems Arise - information about places you can go for advice when health and disability services do not meet your needs or expectations.
